Day 2: Post your favorite song and write why you like it

Gravity - Sara Bareilles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3mKQT08_rk

I have many current favourites but I’ve got to say Sara Bareilles’ Gravity is one of my all time favourite songs.

I first discovered this song while aimlessly wandering through the streets of Youtube and fell instantly in love with it. There’s nothing wrong with this song at all: everything, from its simple piano accompaniment, to the lyrics, to Sara Bareilles’ lovely pure voice, to the bridge, is so amazingly beautiful.

This song has such a calming and destressing effect on me. It can also make me teary, as it did one time when I was on the train home at night, and so I sat there like a loser with tears in my eyes as I waited for the train to depart.

Day 1: Write about your best friend.

My best friend is Me. Me is amazing.

I met my best friend at year 7 camp. She was this cute tiny quiet girl who was sharing a bunk in my room with a very loud chatty Hong Kong girl. Somehow we struck up conversation but I remember thinking that I didn’t think she could be my friend. She asked me who my favourite author is, and I said my favourite childhood author was Enid Blyton. And she said, “Oh yeah! He’s a really good writer!” And I replied, “Err, it’s a she.” And I really didn’t think we could get along.

Eight years later, she still says stupid things but now she’s my best friend. It took a while for us to become best friends I think. She’s probably my oldest friend, and she had always been a close friend. I remember that we would talk on the phone so much in year 7 that we knew each other’s numbers off by heart. But it wasn’t until year 11 and 12 that we truly connected and became best friends.

I used to tease and make fun of her a lot, and she would allow herself to be the punching bag for the group. She was the butt of so many jokes and yet she wouldn’t or couldn’t defend herself. But over six years of high school, she’s learnt how to stand up for herself and I remember thinking how proud I was of her when she started teasing me back.

I used to think that my best friend was perfect, and I got quite annoyed about it. She was good at EVERYTHING. She got good marks, she was good at sports, she’s a really good singer. She made friends very quickly and got along with everyone. I guess that’s why we weren’t best friends straight away - she was just everybody’s friend.

My best friend is a noob. She’s very naive and clueless about everything, but it just makes me feel like I should protect her. She’s good-humoured, and she’s not afraid to be the butt of a joke. She’s stubborn. She can crack up randomly and her laugh is so infectious. We call each other soul sisters because we always think of the same thing at the same time, or crack up about things that no one else gets (especially when we’re in a group situation). She can give you a hug and make you feel better about yourself. With uni and work, we could not see each other for a few weeks but then meet up and chat non-stop. We can have comfortable silences. We write letters to each other. We’ve never fought or argued with each other.

But most of all, she’s my best friend because she knows how to make me feel better about everything. We can talk about anything and everything. She makes me feel like I’m not alone, and she can make me stop worrying. She makes me laugh, and she makes me happy.

I can go on and on about my best friend. But ultimately, with everything that has changed since year 7 and since graduation, she’s been the one constant in my life. She’s the one person that I could imagine sitting on a porch with and sipping tea when we are old and our teeth has fallen out.

5 things you need to say.

Didn’t do this last night cos I was in a grumpy mood and so the 5 things that i would have said would probably have consisted of nothing but swear words.

Also, guess what! I finished a challenge! I always start these but forget about them later.

So…5 things I need to say:

  1. That’s what she said.
  2. Thank you God for everything!
  3. People should learn to treat each other with respect.
  4. Try to look for the little things each day that can make you smile, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem - they can really brighten up your day.
  5. Everything happens for a reason.

5 ways to win your heart.

If I had done this a few years ago, the five things would probably be Wentworth Miller.

Luckily I have matured. Ha. (But Wentworth Miller, you’ll always have a special place in my heart.)(I have moved on to one British-American by the name of Andrew Garfield. Hello.)

  1. Take care of me and not making me feel like I’m a burden. That’s a pretty difficult job I reckon, seeing as I always think that I’m a burden, and I don’t really take care of myself.
  2. Be sensitive and sentimental. Guys who try to be macho all the time and too scared to say what they really think or feel…are losers.
  3. If you make me laugh.
  4. Nice surprises. Who doesn’t like them.
  5. You’ll know when it happens :)

5 ways to make you cry.

  1. Get into a fight with me.
  2. Do or say something really mean.
  3. Do or say something really unexpectedly sweet and lovely.
  4. If someone that I care about gets hurt - physically or emotionally.
  5. If it’s the end of something. Just the idea of it being the ‘end’, like a graduation or moving away, will make me start bawling.

5 bad things about you.

  1. What are you talking about…I’m awesome.
  2. I worry and stress and panic and overthink too much.
  3. I can be really loud and rude sometimes.
  4. I’m lazy, in terms of work, uni, fitness and general taking care of self.
  5. I can hurt people without realising it.

5 good things about you.

  1. Well, I’m a pretty exceptional human being, you know?
  2. I’m an introvert. That’s a good thing becacuse I only open myself up to people who I really trust. It makes whatever relationship that I have with people just that much truer and more important.
  3. I’m a good listener I think. I like listening to everyone’s stories and their views, and I think people like being listened to.
  4. I’m good at comforting/giving advice/cheering people up/being a diplomat. I think. Or I guess a better word for it is ‘giving’. When I was a kid I always wondered why people want to give presents rather than receive them. But now I realise the joy that comes with giving…I think it’s from seeing other people happy again.
  5. I’m honest, but I try not to hurt people.

5 things you’ll never do.

  1. A forward roll.
  2. Go on a rollercoaster.
  3. Cheat.
  4. Pull an allnighter for academic purposes.
  5. Smoke a cigarette.
